Jaeger Artillery Regiment

The origin of the Field Artillery of Independent Finland and the sharpest tip of the development of Field Artillery are combined in a rare way in the Jaeger Artillery Regiment. Jaeger Gunners trained in Germany formed the body of the Finnish Field Artillery in the War of Liberation in 1918. The Jaeger Artillery Regiment of today is the only unit in our country, which trains artillery men for SPG troops. The heritage day is celebrated on the 17th of March.

The main task of the Jaeger Artillery Regiment is to produce personnel fit for service in wartime SPG and mortar units. The most important mental values to serve and for fulfilling its task, the Jaeger Artillery Regiment has in cherishing the heritage, in willingness to defend the country, in straightforward artilleryman and mortarman spirit, in seamless ability to co-operate and in unreserved professional skills.

The Jaeger Artillery Regiment is responsible for producing the entire indirect firing system with all its elements for the needs of the wartime armoured brigade and SPG units for wartime troops serving under the command of the High Command during the time of war. Soldiers of the would-be wartime units will get training in gun emplacement, forward observation, communications, survey, meteorological, ordnance, armour, vehicle, logistic, and staff duty activities depending on one’s designated wartime job.
